The Alternative Monopoly Run is a Scout fundraising event designed to allow the staff who organise and run the event to raise funds for their chosen activity or cause within Scouting.

The idea being that they get involved in the preparation, together with the actual day-to-day running of the weekend, in order to allow others to enjoy a fantastic Monopoly Run and in return for their services hopefully raise some funds.

In 2020 we are hoping to raise enough funds for staff members to attend several Scouting events, as usual. We try to encourage Explorer Scouts to apply as staff who will be overseen by the Leaders. This allows the Explorers to learn a variety of skills needed to run a large event, including organisation, communication and accounting.

The Explorers and Leaders are largely from the Gwent & Cardiff and Vale areas of South Wales. Any funds raised will be split between the staff to go towards their Scouting event or cause. The event has other staff involved, one of the main contributors being FLAGS Scouts Active Support Unit, who have supported the event from the very beginning.

HOW CAN I APPLY FOR A DONATION?
If you would like to assist us with staffing the event please have a browse of our staff section of the website and book onto the event through the links provided. Then download the donation application form from the downloads section of the website.
Not all the staff will get a donation for their chosen fundraising event due to the unfortunately limited funds raised every year. However, if you would like to apply for funds please note the deadline is 1 st March 2020.

WHO ARE WE RAISING FUNDS FOR?
The following are some of the events we are fundraising for, this list will grow as donation applications are received and accepted;

Blaenau Gwent District,

The event always gives a donation to one of the most deprived areas in Wales to help Scouting function in the District. This is out thank you for the District Executive underwriting
the event.

Essex International Jamboree 2020

Welsh Dragonz Explorer Scout Unit are attending EIJ for a seven-day international and cultural experience. This camp is not the costliest but still a struggle for one of the most deprived areas in Wales.

WHERE DOES THE FUNDING GO?
All funds raised from this event will be put straight back into Scouting at a local level and split between the events and causes stated. The event is managed by Blaenau Gwent Scout District with assistance from other Leaders around the Country. The funds raised will be distributed by the event team on behalf of the District to the causes detailed above.

AMR SHOP

We have a fundraising shop open during the event where you can buy event merchandise and also browse other people’s fundraising items.

This is another way the event helps you raise funds especially Explorers who are busy having fun, so why not let us do the hard work for you? We will sell your fundraising items in our shop during the weekend. We don’t ask for anything in return and it’s just a little way to help you make your target. Simply ask the shop staff and they will take it form there, at the
end of the event come and collect your money and left-over items back.
